These events do a lot for the company, from attracting customers to encouraging teamwork, and more. There aren’t many limits to what you can do with a company outing, but some ideas are better than others. You can find some of our favorites in the following list.
1. Make a Point
Anything worth doing has a purpose. The company event should have one as well.
Are you hoping to partner with another company? Is it a seminar? Do your employees need to learn something?
Make your goal obvious. The last thing you need is for your employees to panic because you don’t have a plan in place.
2. Know Your Audience
Who are you hoping to reach on this outing and why? For an audience of potential customers, cut down on jargon.
Most people won’t know about the ins and outs of the industry, and they don’t have to. All they need to know about is the product and how it works.
If you’re at a seminar, you can let your guard down. These people know your business. They know the jargon and the common problems employees face.
3. Have Fun
No matter how serious the event, make fun a top priority. This is your employees’ chance to get away from the daily grind, so let them enjoy it. Try adding an extra day to the trip and using it for a fun activity, like an escape room or a day at the park.
Remember that relationships are the cornerstone of workplace engagement and satisfaction. The more friends an employee has at work, the happier they reported being. We suggest putting team-building exercises into your corporate event.
4. Souvenirs
Getting souvenirs for your employees can make them feel appreciated. Please remember that it’s not the thought that counts here. Offering pencils or tiny, undecorated notebooks won’t work. These feel like empty gestures from a faceless CEO trying to motivate his employees at a low cost.
More meaningful gifts, like mugs or corporate challenge coins. Mugs and corporate challenge coins work better, possibly because they’re not ‘work gifts.’ They’re more personalized and they can’t be used to work.

Setting up or attending a company event takes planning. Proper planning ensures that both the company and its employees get as much out of the event as possible.
